Columbia University & Chinese Education: A Dialogue with Leading U.S. and Chinese Educators
In today's rapidly changing era of globalization, the field of education is undergoing a profound transformation. This transformation not only reshapes the form and connotation of education but also profoundly influences the way knowledge is disseminated, the construction of the learning environment, and the model of talent cultivation.
The Teachers College of Columbia University has a profound connection with Chinese education that spans over a century, cultivating numerous pioneers in the field of Chinese education. Professor Man-Cheong Tsang of the Teachers College, Columbia University, founded the China Education Research Center at Columbia University in 2000, which has become an academic institution with significant influence among the Ivy League universities in the United States, focusing on the development of Chinese education. Through academic research, education and training, international exchanges and other activities, it has continuously promoted the exchanges and cooperation in education between China and the United States.
When President Thomas Bailey of the Teachers College, Columbia University, and his delegation visit Beijing, we will hold a themed event titled "Columbia University and Chinese Education: A Dialogue with Leading U.S. and Chinese Educators" at Beijing International Bilingual Academy (BIBA), which was founded by Dr. Wang Wei, an alumnus of the Teachers College, Columbia University.
At that time, Gu Mingyuan, Honorary President of the Chinese Society of Education, Honorary Professor of the Teachers College, Columbia University, and Honorary President of BIBA, as well as President Thomas Bailey of the Teachers College, Columbia University, and Member of the National Academy of Education in the United States, will be invited to have a dialogue.
This upcoming conversation at Beijing International Bilingual Academy(BIBA) is of great symbolic significance: It not only inherits the progressive education genes of Columbia University but is also rooted in China's local education practice. These two authoritative figures in the field of education will share their insights on educational transformation and their outlooks on the future development of education. Meanwhile, the establishment ceremony of the Tsang-Gu Fellowship Fund and the Tsang-Gu Fund for CoCE of the Teachers College, Columbia University, named after Gu Mingyuan and Man-Cheong Tsang, will also be held.
