MS/HS Assistant Principal – Middle School Student AffairsRole Description
Key Role
To be responsible for the wellbeing, engagement, mentoring, and holistic development of all Middle School students. The Assistant Principal ensures a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that supports learning and growth. BIBA believes that strong relationships, visibility in classrooms, and shared leadership are key to student success. The Assistant Principal models this belief through collaboration, approachability, flexibility, and a sense of humour in all they do. This role includes teaching one class to remain closely connected to students and pedagogy.

Close Collaborative Partnership
The AP–Middle School Student Affairs works in close partnership with the AP–Middle School Teaching and Learning to ensure that academic and pastoral systems are aligned. The AP collaborates daily with the MYP Coordinator and the Community Project Coordinator to support student engagement and service learning. They work in tandem with the High School AP–Student Affairs to ensure smooth transitions, shared ethos, and consistent approaches to behaviour, wellbeing, mentoring, and student leadership across the division.
Area: Strategic Vision
• Have a clear vision for student affairs aligned with BIBA’s mission and the IB philosophy.
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a safe, supportive, and high-performing culture.
• Establish goals for student wellbeing and engagement and evaluate progress towards them.
Area: Student Wellbeing and Safeguarding
• Serve as Designated Child Protection Officer (shared responsibility).
• Oversee the Middle School wellbeing initiatives, collaborating with counsellors and support staff.
• Lead assemblies, awareness campaigns, and wellbeing events promoting balance and belonging.
Area: Mentoring and Student Development Curriculum
• Lead and coordinate the Middle School Mentoring Programme, ensuring it reflects BIBA’s ethos and IB Learner Profile.
• Work with Grade Level Leaders to design and maintain a coherent social-emotional learning and student development curriculum.
• Support mentors with resources, professional guidance, and training to deliver meaningful sessions.
• Monitor and review programme quality, gathering feedback to inform continuous improvement.
• Align mentoring content with divisional priorities, school-wide themes, and student needs. Area: Behaviour and Attendance
• Implement and monitor the Middle School Behaviour Policy.
• Promote restorative practices and ensure consistent follow-up on behavioural concerns.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality and support interventions for improvement.
• Uphold expectations around student conduct and uniform with fairness and humour.
Area: Student Leadership and Enrichment
• Lead the Middle School Student Council and House activities.
• Oversee enrichment opportunities, events, and co-curricular activities.
• Promote leadership, service, and community involvement aligned with the IB Learner Profile.
Area: Collaboration with Teaching and Learning
• Work closely with the AP–MS Teaching and Learning, MYP Coordinator, and Community Project Coordinator to align pastoral and academic goals.
• Support integration of wellbeing, ATL, and service learning into curriculum planning.
General Responsibilities of Assistant Principals
Assistant Principals are whole-division leaders who provide visible and supportive leadership across all areas. They contribute to meetings, events, staff recruitment, and the overall ethos of the school. They model professionalism, teaching excellence, and collaborative spirit.

The AP collaborates regularly with the DP Coordinator, A-Level Coordinator, and IGCSE Coordinator to support student engagement, motivation, and wellbeing. They work closely with the AP–Middle School Student Affairs to ensure shared ethos, mentoring coherence, and consistent approaches across MSHS.

• Develop and implement a vision for High School student affairs aligned with BIBA’s mission and the IB philosophy.
• Collaborate with colleagues to promote a positive, inclusive, and aspirational school culture.
• Evaluate progress towards wellbeing and engagement goals, adapting plans where needed.
Area: Student Wellbeing and Safeguarding
• Serve as Designated Child Protection Officer (shared responsibility).
• Oversee the High School wellbeing initiatives, collaborating with counsellors and careers staff.
• Lead initiatives that build balance, resilience, and a sense of belonging among students.
Area: Mentoring and Student Development Curriculum
• Lead and coordinate the High School Mentoring Programme, ensuring it aligns with BIBA’s vision, values, and IB Learner Profile.
• Collaborate with Grade Level Leaders to design a coherent social-emotional learning and student development curriculum that prepares students for life beyond school.
• Provide mentors with clear lesson frameworks, resources, and ongoing professional learning.
• Ensure mentoring supports academic, social, and emotional wellbeing while reinforcing key themes from DP, A-Level, and IGCSE programmes.
• Gather feedback and student reflections to refine and improve the programme annually.
Area: Behaviour and Attendance
• Implement and monitor the High School Behaviour Policy.
• Lead restorative and reflective practices that promote responsibility and respect.
• Ensure consistent application of attendance and punctuality expectations.
• Uphold high standards of behaviour and school uniform while maintaining empathy and humour.
Area: Student Leadership and Enrichment
• Lead the High School Student Council and coordinate House activities.
• Oversee student-led initiatives such as service projects, graduation events, and cultural celebrations.
• Encourage active student voice and participation in school life.
Area: Collaboration with Teaching and Learning

ES Assistant Principal – International Curriculum & Wellbeing (LES Focus)Role Description
Reports to: Elementary School Principal

Overview
The LES Assistant Principal for International Curriculum Wellbeing provides academic and pastoralleadership across KG–G2. The role ensures high-quality international curriculum delivery, early literacyand numeracy development, and strong student wellbeing aligned with BIBA's bilingual framework.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership Culture
• Champion BIBA’s 4Rs and promote a safe, inclusive, positive culture.
• Lead transition programs such as EY–KG.
• Model professional integrity and collaboration.
Curriculum, Teaching Learning
• Oversee implementation of international frameworks (AERO, US Common Core, Science ofReading).
• Ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment and integration with the Chinese program.
• Conduct walkthroughs and observations to support early literacy and numeracy foundations.
• Lead PLCs and data-informed instructional improvement.
Student Wellbeing Behavior
• Oversee implementation of SEL programs such as Second Step.
• Coordinate with counselors and teachers to support emotional and behavioral growth.
• Lead parent workshops and staff training on early childhood wellbeing.
Staff Development Support
• Mentor early-career teachers and facilitate PLCs focused on effective instruction.
• Support appraisal, goal-setting, and professional growth aligned to school priorities.
Operations Planning
• Collaborate on class placements, scheduling, and communication with parents.
• Develop and manage the LES duty and cover schedule to ensure adequate supervision.
• Support grade-level newsletters, student-led conferences, and curriculum events.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Education or a related field (Ed.S/Ed.D preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 in leadership within a bilingual orinternational setting.
• Strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional leadership, and bilingual/multilinguallearning.
• Excellent communication, intercultural, and organizational skills.
• Preferred bilingual (English/Chinese)
