Welcome to Middle School

An administration and faculty of 45 experienced and dedicated educators from China and around the world welcome you to our MS. BIBA is a bilingual school in which all Middle School students are expected to study Chinese Language Arts, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Students in grade 6 also study Chinese Mathematics. In addition to these core areas, students are also given the opportunity to build skills, solve problems, and explore interests in various arts, trades, and languages through electives and specialist classes (IT, Art, Music, PE).

Students in the Middle School (grades 6-8) follow the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) which is a curriculum intentionally designed to help students in this age group connect their learning to big ideas and to develop 21st century skills.  It is organized around 6 big ideas per year where the students look at the big idea through the various subject groups.

  • Grade 6 Themes: Adaptability, Collaboration, Discovery, Consequence, Resolution, Balance
  • Grade 7 Themes: Curiosity, Tradition, Resilience, Respect, Competition, Relationships
  • Grade 8 Themes:  Challenge, Interpretation, Justice, Leadership, Renewal, Responsibility

Parents are welcome to attend the Exit Point presentations at the end of each six week cycle, where the students present their understanding of the Big Idea

With a commitment to small class sizes, differentiation and personalized instruction, BIBA strives to help its students be life-long learners with a commitment to making our world a better place to live.

We hope that you can visit us so that you can see what makes this community unique.
